Most organisations that offer certification for personal trainers NYC will have detailed websites that explain the different types of certifications that they offer along with course fees, home study options if applicable, exam locations and dates and other need to know information. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Council on Exercise both have a home study option available with the exam taken on location. The colleges are both accredited by the NCCA and require applicants to have a high school diploma, be 18 years of age or older and possess a current adult CPR certification. The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America also gives a home study option and is accredited by Vital Research and Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA) and the International Sports & Sciences Association (ISSA) are both currently going through the accreditation process with the DETC and offer home study options.
